Events are permitted in the Pier parking lot between Labor Day and June 30. Public events are permitted 7 days a week and private events Monday through Thursday.
FEES
Fees for the use of the Pier depend on the size and type of event. Fees
may include the following:

Monica Pier Event Fee
• Pier Parking Lot Fee
• Security Deposit
• Fees for City Event Services
WEIGHT LIMITS
The Santa Monica Pier is nearly 100 years old and we hope it will be here
for another 100 years. Therefore, weight limits are strictly enforced.
The limit on the paved portion of the Pier is 20,000 pounds. The limit
in the parking lot and boardwalk area is 7,000 pounds. Weight limits include
vehicles and loads. Pier staff will assist in event organizers with planning
for event load-in and load-out.
EVENT APPLICATION
An Event Permit Application is required for all events that are staged
in public space. Events within Pier businesses do not require an Event
Permit Application.
To begin the Event Permit Application process, simply send us a brief description of your event including the dates and times you have in mind, the number of expected attendees, and a description of the event elements. Pier staff will contact you to review the information and answer any of your questions. Once your event receives preliminary approval from Pier staff, then you must complete a City of Santa Monica Event Permit Application.
